FC Kontu was established in 1967. The team is based in the Kontula district of Helsinki and its activities are centred around eastern Helsinki. In its heyday, FC Kontu's adult first team played for promotion to Finland's premier league in 1986 and 1993.

FC Kontu's team for boys born in 1999 was started in the autumn of 2005 and is now starting its sixth season. The team currently has a total of 36 players, including a group that forms a competitive team which has played successfully in Finland's top tournaments for this age group. The team has also performed very well in many international tournaments.

Key objectives in the team's training programme include developing wide-ranging skills, understanding of the game and sportiveness. The team also encourages the players to practice in their own time. For anyone who wants to develop into a star player of the future, it's not enough just to attend the team's training sessions.

It is the games against other quality teams that are most beneficial for the development of the players. This is why FC Kontu is also looking for exciting footballing challenges and experiences outside Finland for the 2011 season.
